I do not want to pack my valuable devices in my hold luggage – what if they are broken or stolen?
We’re all required to follow these new additional security measures, so if you’ve brought a laptop, tablet or e-reader device on holiday with you you’ll be expected to pack them in your hold luggage on your return journey. We recommend that you take the usual precautions to limit the risk of damage or loss of your belongings:
- Use a good quality lock on your case and pack valuables/breakables in the centre of your suitcase and surrounded with clothes/towels
- Make sure to check your luggage and immediately report any loss or damage and obtain a written report for your insurer
- Check your travel insurance policy wording and contact your insurer directly if you have any questions about the terms and conditions of your policy relating to the new FCO advice.
